DISRUPT PRIDE SERIES
This Pride season, GetEQUAL is creating a series of pieces amplifying the radical roots of Pride, alongside our queer & trans history of disrupting Pride parades and festivals for their corporatization, heavy police presence and overall failure to support and uplift queer and trans youth of color. Our first piece is a photo timeline, highlighting a brief history of Pride parade disruptions, starting with ACT UP disrupting Chicago Pride parade in 1992. Our second piece is a long-form podcast episode interviewing two queer organizers who give us their insight on the importance of disrupting Pride.
